A week ago Friday immigration was out on the streets of Shekou checking foreigners for passports and their registration papers. This week, foreigners have been posting on social media that immigration has stopped by their apartments to check as well.
This notice was seen posted in Coastal Rose Garden 2 this week apparently explaining the checks.

The Chinese Government last month announced new preferential policies that have abolished certain fees that we've been paying. Depending how much you use services in China, these many bring substantial savings.
1. When buying train tickets for trains not departing from the local train station, there was a 5 rmb fee for each ticket, but since October 1st, this fee has been cancelled. SkySea Golden Era, of SkySea Holding International Ltd., China's first domestic cruise company, embarked on its first voyage from Shenzhen on November 15th, 2017. Until January 2nd, 2018, passengers can now set sail on cruises from Shenzhen to Japan and Vietnam.
According to SkySea, this is the first time the cruise ship has come to Shenzhen and it is also the second time the company has chosen a southern China city as a seasonal home port.

From 1:00pm today passengers will not be able to buy tickets using the Online Ticket Vending Machines (known as ITVM) at 12 Shenzhen Metro Stations. The ITVMs will be taken offline while they are being updated.
The affected stations, all on Line 1, include:
