In the afternoon of March 4th, at the press conference held by the Guangdong Provincial Government Information Office, Ji Leqin, the second inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Health and Health Committee, held a briefing on measures to prevent and control the import of outbreaks in Guangdong province.

She introduced that the recent outbreak of the new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic has been spreading overseas and that Guangdong is paying close attention to the establishment of a joint control and prevention mechanism at the port. It will organize joint operations between the port, health, border inspection, customs, public security, foreign affairs, and civil aviation bureaus to coordinate the work.

According to the Guangdong Province's epidemic prevention and control regulations, Guangdong Province has adopted the following measures for those coming from countries and regions with severe epidemics abroad.

First of all, in accordance with laws and regulations such as the Frontier Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China, those suspected of being infected shall be handed over to the designated hospitals for isolation treatment and medical observation.

Quarantine observation policies will be adjusted dynamically based on changes in epidemics abroad. As of today, in addition to those coming from epidemic areas in China; such as Wuhan, those who have entered the country through the Guangdong port from South Korea, Italy, Iran, and Japan, or other severely infected countries, or have entered the country through the Guangdong port through other countries or regions, and have a history of travel, residence, etc. in Korea, Italy, Iran, Japan, etc. must implement home medical observation or centralized medical observation for 14 days if their destination is in Guangdong. This applies to both Chinese and foreigners. If the passengers is just transiting through Guangdong to other provinces, epidemic prevention work will be strictly followed in accordance with local regulations.

The list of "epidemic areas" is likely to grow in the coming, days, weeks or even months. Follow this page for the latest info. We will update that page as new regions are added.
