FREE Summer Program for Kids (Aug 5th-16th) at NSIC

The Nanshan International Cultural Exchange & Service Center (NSIC), in cooperation with ShekouDaily, is proud to bring you this amazing and FREE two-week summer program for your kids.
The summer program will take place at the NSIC (except on field trip days noted below), each weekday from August 5th to 16th, and is open to English-speaking, foreign passport holding, children between the ages of 5 and 13.
Welcome to enroll your child(ren) to one, some, or all of the fun and educational classes listed below. Hurry though, this will surely fill up fast!
Summer Program Schedule:
The following classes were chosen based on the results of a survey published by ShekouDaily asking parents what kind of classes they would like to see in a summer program. All training costs and materials are included, free-of-charge.
Monday, August 5, 2019: Adventure Based Counselling
Professional social services group, South Wind International will help improve kids EQ and self esteem through Adventure Based Counselling.
Tuesday, August 6, 2019: Team Venture
Professional social services group, South Wind International will guide kids through a series of games and activities to help improve their team working skills.
Wednesday, August 7, 2019: Personal Growth Course
Professional social services group, South Wind International will guide kids on a path of personal growth through fun interactive activities.
Thursday, August 8, 2019: Computer Coding by FCA
Kids will learn the basics of computer coding from professional coding school First Code Academy. A second session giving hands on experience with robotic coding will also be offered. No prior coding skills or experience necessary.
Friday, August 9, 2019: Maker DIY by ShekouDaily
Kids will build robotic cars and at the end of the day, teams will have a chance to race their creations. No prior experience necessary.
Monday, August 12, 2019: Board Games by Eric
Children will play a variety of board games, learn about game design and mechanics, and build teamworking skills in fun and creative ways facilitated by Eric of SZX.
Tuesday, August 13, 2019: Field Trip: Design Museum
Greg Bermont, certified positive discipline parent educator and behavioral professional, and the NSIC staff, will take the kids on an exciting tour of the Sea World Culture and Art Center; including the new Y-Comic-X exhibit!
Wednesday, August 14, 2019: Outdoor Photography by Song Ni (Kiko)
Professional photographer and certified Positive Discipline Instructor Song Ni (Kiko), will take your kids on an outdoor excursion to photograph the beauty of Shekou. Each child will print out their best photo of the day and have it framed. No prior photography skills or experience necessary. Each child must bring their own camera (can be a mobile phone camera or better).
Thursday, August 15, 2019: Dance by Crystal Dance Studio
Crystal Dance Studio is highly experienced teaching children various types of Dance. In this class, kids will learn the basics of hip hop dance. No prior dance skills or experience necessary.
Friday, August 16, 2019: Arts & Crafts & Closing Ceremony by NSIC
Kids will have a chance to enjoy some arts and crafts projects in the morning. In the afternoon, we will hold a ceremony to celebrate the end of the summer program where kids will have a chance to show off what they've learned and created.
- All classes will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. then resume from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- The NSIC is closed from 12 noon to 2 p.m. so parents must pick up their children before noon and bring them back by 2:30 p.m.
- Insurance will be provided by the NSIC on days where children are taken outdoors.
