UPDATED SZMB Weather forecast as of 5:30pm

UPDATE: The SZMB issued a Blue Gale Wind Warning at 4pm, and has re-issued their Rainstorm Warning (orange for some parts of the city), at 4:35pm. The HKO has re-issued their Thunderstorm Warning as well. The SZMB's original yellow Lightning Warning is still in effect.

The HKO's Thunderstorm Warning was issued at 4:30 p.m. on 11 Jun 2019. It will be valid until 7:30 p.m. today. Squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong. Gusts reaching 80 kilometres per hour or above may affect Hong Kong.

Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur:

1. Stay indoors. Seek shelter in buildings if you are engaging in outdoor activities.

2. Do not stand on high grounds. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.

3. Take precautions against violent gusts. Beware of flying debris and falling objects.

4. Drivers using highways and flyovers should reduce speed to be alert to violent gusts.


UPDATE: As of 3:30pm, only the Lightning warning was still in effect. Here's an updated weather forcast for the rest of the day from the SZMB.

UPDATE: The HKO has extended their Thunderstorm Warning to 12:30pm and the SZMB has cancelled their previously issued Rainstorm warning.


The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued their Thunderstorm Warning at 9:25am and the Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau (SZMB) issued their Yellow Rainstorm warning citywide at 9:50am this morning. Their Yellow Lightning Warning was issued at 2:10am.

Thunderstorm Warning was issued at 9:25 a.m. on 11 Jun 2019. It will be valid until 11:30 a.m. today. Occasional squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over New Territories. Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur:

1. Stay indoors. Seek shelter in buildings if you are engaging in outdoor activities.

2. Do not stand on high grounds. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.

Current weather forecasts are predicting numerous sudden and heavy rains, similar to what we experienced yesterday evening, for the rest of the week so be prepared.
