Shenzhen Metro Extends Hours and Adds Trains to Lines 2 & 3
26 Jun 2019
The Shenzhen Metro yesterday announced that, in order to better meet the weekend travel needs of citizens, it will adjust the weekend train operation schedules for Lines 2 and 3.
Starting June 29, 2019, the time between trains on these lines, during peak hours on the weekends, will be shortened by more than 20 seconds and the operating times will be extended.
The time they refer to as "peak time" has been extended from seven to 11 hours and is now from 8:53 am to 7:45 pm. During "peak hours," more trains are added to decrease the wait time between trains; which will now be 4 minutes and 30 seconds on Line 2, and 3 minutes and 30 seconds on Line 3.
These changes are expected to increase the full-day transportation capacity of the Lines 2 and 3 by 13.62% and 13.8% respectively.
In addition, the operating hours have also been extended on the weekends. The new times are as follows:
- Line 2: Xinxiu to Chiwan: 6:30am to 11:08pm, (towards Sea World);
- Line 2: Chiwan to Xinxiu: 6:14am to 11:00pm;
- Line 3 Shuanglong to Yitian: 6:20am to 11:30pm.
