The 24th typhoon of the season, Trami, formed in the northwest Pacific Ocean at 8pm on Friday September 21st. The Hong Kong Observatory has published that it will intensify gradually and move across the western North Pacific in the general direction of the seas east of the Luzon Strait in the next few days.
As of this morning, it was located at 17.0 N, 135.1 E and classified as a Typhoon with wind speeds at its center of 130 km/h. It is currently forecast to reach Severe Typhoon classification with winds speeds of at least 155 km/h at its center by tomorrow and become a Super Typhoon with maximum sustained wind speeds near its center of 205 km/h when it gets near China later next week.
At present, Trami's trajectory seems to be towards Taiwan; however, it's too early to tell exactly when and where it will hit and what kind of impact it will have on Shenzhen.
We usually do not report on Typhoons this early; however, considering its size and its arrival date so close to the National Day holiday, it may be good to keep an eye on it to be sure it doesn't ruin your travel plans. The Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau's weather forecast for next week seems to dismiss any chance of it impacting Shenzhen within the next ten days.
Typhoon Trami is receiving quite a bit of attention as people are still reeling from the affects of Typhoon Mangkhut; which struck last week. We've embededded a typhoon tracker below as well as Windy's cool app to help you keep an eye on the storm and weather forecasts.
