Tragic Car Accident Leaves Multiple Dead in Nanshan, Shenzhen

On the evening of May 16, 2019, the Traffic Police Division of the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau, issued an official announcement on their Weibo account stating that at 7:20 p.m., a car lost control while heading south down Nanshan Road at the Dengliang intersection, and hit numerous pedestrians. The announcement states that the accident resulted in the death of three people; however, others on the scene have stated they saw at least four deaths. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver, Liu Nanan (a 23 year old male), was apprehended. After the initial investigation, they reported that the accident seemed to have been caused by the driver losing control of the vehicle due to a sudden illness. The accident is still under further investigation. There have been no official comments made regarding the other rumours or accounts that the driver was drunk and ran a red light at the intersection.
