UPDATE: The HKO cancelled it's Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal at 5:20pm and extended it's Thunderstorm Warning to 7pm.

UPDATE: At 2:55pm, the SZMB re-issued their Blue Gale Winds Warning citywide.


 

UPDATE: At 2:30pm, the HKO re-issued their Amber Rain Storm Warning Signal. 

The Rainstorm Warning Signal is now Amber. This means that heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 30 millimetres in an hour, and is likely to continue.

There will be flooding in some low-lying and poorly drained areas. People who are likely to be affected should take necessary precautions to reduce their exposure to risk posed by the heavy rain and flooding.

Heavy rain may bring about flash floods. People should stay away from watercourses. People who are likely to be affected by flooding should take necessary precautions to avoid losses.

 


UPDATE: At 2:20pm, the SZMB re-issued their Yellow Rainstorm Warningn citywide.


 

UPDATE: At 2pm, the HKO re-issued their Thunderstorm Warning; which will stay in force until 6pm today.

Squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong. Gusts reaching 90 kilometres per hour or above may affect Hong Kong.

Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur:

1. Stay indoors. Seek shelter in buildings if you are engaging in outdoor activities.

2. Do not stand on high grounds. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.

3. Take precautions against violent gusts. Beware of flying debris and falling objects.

4. Drivers using highways and flyovers should reduce speed to be alert to violent gusts.

 


UPDATE: The SZMB cancelled its Rainstorm and Gale Warnings. Currently only the SZMB Yellow Lightning Warning and the HKO's Thunderstorm Warning (to 11:30am), are still in effect.

 


UPDATE: The HKO cancelled their Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal at 10am.

 


UPDATE: Just before 10am, the SZMB downgraded their Orange Rainstorm Warning and their citywide Gale Warning. Now the Yellow Rainstorm Warning and Gale Warning are only out for Dapeng and the Eastern Sea Area.

UPDATE: At 8:20am, the SZMB upgraded the Rainstorm Warning to Orange for the following areas: Futian District、Nanshan District、Longhua District、Bantian、Xin'an、Shiyan、Fenghuang、Guangming、Xinhu、Yutang、Xixiang、Hangcheng

UPDATE: At 8am, the SZMB updated their Yellow Rainstorm Warning to include the entire city.

 


The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued their Thunderstorm Warning at 7:30 a.m. on June 13th, 2019. It will be valid until 10:00 a.m. today, unless otherwise extended. The Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau's (SZMB) Lightning Warning, issued yesterday, is still in effect. They also issued their Yellow Rainstorm Warning at 2:15am for the outerlying parts of the city.

Squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong. Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur:

1. Stay indoors. Seek shelter in buildings if you are engaging in outdoor activities.

2. Do not stand on high grounds. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.

 

Last night, the Shenzhen Municipal Government issued an Emergency Weather Warning via SMS to all residents warning of bad weather today so we expect there will be many updates through out the day.

【深圳突发事件预警】深圳市政府提醒您:13日我市有暴雨局部大暴雨,伴雷雨大风,连日暴雨,地质灾害、积涝风险高,请市民留意最新预警并做好防御。

Translation:
【Shenzhen Emergency Warning】 The Shenzhen Municipal Government reminds you that on the 13th, there will be heavy rains in the city, accompanied by thunderstorms and gales, continuous heavy rains, geological disasters {such as landslides} and high risk of flooding, please pay attention to the latest warning and take precautions.
