November 11th: A Day of Remembrance

Today is the 100th anniversary of the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany in France, for the end of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I.

Armistice day and veterans day November 11th is armistice day in Europe and veterans day in the USA. This commemorates the end of world war I and pays tribute to the people who have served their countries before and since.

While the world still has many problems and conflicts continue around the world, I believe that the services of the veterans have contributed to making the world a better place than it would have been.

While I believe that fighting conflicts is not the best answer in most cases, the presence of a good military can be a deterrence that makes people look for a better way to resolve issues and leads to a more orderly society, at least in the developed parts of the world.

I thank the veterans for the contributions made so I could enjoy a life in a manner that would not have been afforded to me otherwise. I am proud to call myself a veteran
