UPDATE: Hospitalized Expat Receives Overwhelming Support
You may have already heard that Mrs. Preeti Maheshwari (pictured below), an expat schoolteacher in Shekou, Shenzhen, China, has been hospitalized since January 11th of this year, at the Nanshan People's Hospital (ICU Ward). Background story here.
Doctors had diagnosed her with Acute Pneumonia, Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS), and Septic Shock after the sudden failure of most or all major organs, including her lungs, and advised the family to prepare 400,000 rmb for her treatment.
With the amazing support from friends, family, and all of you who donated, the family was able to raise the money very quickly.
Her husband has confirmed that her condition is now stable and a little better than the day of her admission. The doctors have confirmed that in fact, she is suffering from a Streptococcal infection. She is still unconscious, but her brain is functioning normally (as per the MRI report); however, her kidney and liver functions are still not good so she is not out of danger.
Donation targets have been reached so the family has asked that people refrain from any further donations, and once again thanks everyone deeply for their support and prayers.
