UPDATE: Hospitalized Expat Returns Home
You may have already heard the story of Mrs. Preeti Maheshwari, an expat schoolteacher in Shekou, Shenzhen, China, that was hospitalized on January 11th.
Doctors had originally diagnosed her with Acute Pneumonia, Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS), and Septic Shock after the sudden failure of most or all major organs, including her lungs, and advised the family to prepare 400,000 rmb for her treatment. The doctors later confirmed that she in fact was suffering from a Streptococcal infection. She was unconscious for weeks as donations poured in from all over the world to help pay her hospital bills.
We are excited to announce that after almost two months since her ordeal began, Preeti returned home to her family last night! She is very grateful to everyone for the overwhelming support, prayers and well wishes she has received from all of you.
