Nanhai Dadao Road Closure as Metro Construction Begins
27 Nov 2016
As if the traffic heading into and out of Shekou wasn't bad enough, the Municipal Public Security Bureau Traffic Police Department of Shenzhen announced that Nanhai Dadao will soon be closed for SIX MONTHS! The closure will affect the area from Gongye 1 Road to Gongye 3 Road and also Minghua Road which is between Taizi Road and Nanhai Dadao.
The closure is expected to last from December 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017. The reason for the closure is that construction is beginning on phase 2 of Shenzhen Metro Line 9; which will make it easier to travel between Shekou and greater parts of the city. Despite the inconvenience, these new metro stops in Shekou should ultimately help ease the growing traffic problems in the area.
The notice provided is for a period of 6 months; however, they stated that actual construction time may vary. After six months the Shenzhen traffic police department will re-evaluate the situation and adjust as needed.
If you're planning to drive in the affected areas, the police ask that you please pay attention to traffic signs and markings and obey any traffic officers on the scenes.
69 parking spots on Taizi Road will also be closed. Parking spaces on both sides of Taizi Road will not be accessible.
