The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued their Thunderstorm Warning at 5:05 p.m. on 18 Apr 2019. It will be valid until 7:30 p.m. today.

UPDATE: The HKO cancelled their Thunder Storm Warning at 8:15 a.m. By 8:50 a.m., all weather warnings from the SZMB had been cancelled as well. Here is the weather forecast from the SZMB, as of 8:55 a.m.

UPDATE: As of midnight, only the HKO's Thunderstorm Warning and the SZMB's Lighting warning were still in effect. Expect rain through the early morning.

UPDATE: The Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal issued at 9:35 p.m. was cancelled at 10:35 p.m.

UPDATE: Thunderstorm Warning issued at 5:05 p.m. on 18 Apr 2019 has been extended until 9:30 p.m. today. A few squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong. Gusts reaching 70 kilometres per hour or above may affect Hong Kong.

Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur:

  1. Stay indoors. Seek shelter in buildings if you are engaging in outdoor activities.
  2. Do not stand on high grounds. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.

Updated Weather Warnings from The Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau as of 5:55pm. There is now a Blue Gale Warning and the Rainstorm Warning has been extended to the entire city.

The Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau (SZMB) also issued Yellow Lightning and Rainstorm warnings for parts of the city at 4:15pm and 5:10pm respectively. 

 

UPDATE: 5:45PM - HKO's weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and a few thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times at first. Visibility relatively low. Temperatures will range between 24 and 27 degrees. Moderate to fresh easterly winds, becoming southerlies. Outlook: Showers will ease off and it will be hot with sunny periods over the weekend and early next week.
